Whether you apply online or directly with individual programs for benefits, you may be asked to provide verification of your eligibility. Each program will let you know what to provide, and many of these necessary documents may be the same for multiple programs.

It is important to provide all requested documents as quickly as possible after the programs request, and to keep a copy for your records.

Examples include:

  • Proof of income such as paycheck stubs, unemployment pay stubs, child support payments, TANF, Veterans payments, Social Security award letters, etc.
  • Photo identification for adults such as state ID and passports
  • Lease or rental agreements or proof of homeownership
  • Proof of student status; including registration, grants, loans, etc.
